Vice President Community Development

Be a part of our team and help make a difference in our community! USC Credit Union is a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to building wealth and creating economic opportunity for those who are underserved in our community.  Our Credit Union, a dynamic $550 million Credit Union located steps from USC’s University Park campus near Downtown Los Angeles, is looking for a Vice President Community Development reporting directly to the Chief Experience Officer (CXO). This position is responsible for identifying community development needs for the underbanked and underserved in the communities we serve and building relationships with community partners and other resource providers (e.g., banks, credit unions, local-city-state governments, etc.) involved in meeting those needs. The VP Community Development will develop and execute lending, investment and service opportunities that are responsive to the needs of the community, are in line with the Credit Union’s strategic initiatives, and in compliance with CDFI requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads coordination of outreach for all community programs initiatives
  • Identifies opportunities for innovative solutions that financially empower members and differentiate USCCU in the communities we serve
  • Develops Key Performance Indicators and measures ongoing effectiveness of community efforts and identifies improvement opportunities that evolve with member needs and expectations
  • Champions CDFI programs and ensures USCCU exceeds the program requirements; coordinates with governmental officials and advocacy programs
  • Directs the activities of the USCCU Foundation; develops protocols for grant and award applications; develops fundraising opportunities; manages budget and operations plans, foundation accounting, and internal/government reporting
  • Manages and designs the development of educational activities for current and potential members; coordinates with partner organizations and the community
  • Represents the Credit Union at community events to nurture and solidify current membership and develop new business development opportunities
  • Designs and delivers executive-level reporting and presentations on results or to propose changes in operations, products, or programs
  • Develops and administers department budget including financial reports, as required
  • Works collaboratively with senior management team to engineer continuous process improvement
  • Provides oversight and direction for community development department
  • Ensures department works efficiently and quickly to meet aggressive goals while providing exceptional service and maintaining quality of work
  • Monitors staff performance; uses sound management, coaching, and interpersonal skills to influence, motivate, and develop staff, including those who are not direct reports
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, finance or similar field
  • Three years’ experience
  • Combined experience/education for substitute for minimum education
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
  • Enhanced knowledge of, and relationships with, key community influencers such as advocates, policy and civic organizations, local-city-state governments, and other national, regional and local nonprofits that serve the needs of the underserved in our community
  • Comprehensive experience and knowledge in the new business development process
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to independently steer complex issues to resolution
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Integrity, initiative, and attention to detail
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background and credit check

In addition to above, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Five years of experience
