The Center for Inclusive Democracy (formerly California Civic Engagement Project) located in Sacramento, CA has an immediate opening for a Research ProgramSpecialist. This is fixed term position through 5/31/2021. The position calls for work in interdisciplinary studies, focusing on questions of civic engagement and voting behavior. This position requires active involvement in conducting research on specific projects, as well as providing general research assistance to ongoing projects at the Center. The Research Program Specialist will be called on to collect and interpret data using multiple databases. Other duties include: data collection; statistical data analysis; geographical presentation of data; computer management of data files; and the analysis and write-up of research findings, as appropriate, given the research findings of individual projects, and subject to grant funding.
Preferred education: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Political Science, Statistics, Sociology or a related field.
Basic qualifications include: communications skills to engage effectively with a variety of collaborators and audiences; demonstrated skills in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis; strong writing, proofreading and editing abilities; the ability to research and write academic literature reviews. Experience working collaboratively with governmental and community leaders is a strong plus.
The position involves a focus on public service, providing research to political, non-profit and academic outlets, in order to encourage voting in California and beyond.
