Software/Data Quality Assurance

The Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at the University of Southern California is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and quality of data-driven processes, integrity, and technologies within the school. This position involves overseeing data management, conducting quality assurance checks, and supporting the efficient functioning of learning technologies to enhance the educational experience. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise in data management with strong collaboration skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, adaptability to technological advancements, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of data integrity and educational quality within the School of Social Work.

The Data & Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain the integrity of data within learning management systems (such as Canvas, Zoom, Salesforce, and Brightspace), ensuring accurate records of student progress, course materials, and other educational data.
  • Develop and implement data management protocols for learning management systems, conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of educational data.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and IT personnel to define data requirements, establish standards for data entry, and streamline data collection processes for educational technology platforms.
  • Conduct routine quality assurance checks on learning technologies, identifying, and addressing issues related to usability, functionality, and accessibility.
  • Analyze user feedback, system performance, and data trends to propose and implement improvements or enhancements to optimize the learning experience.
  • Create and maintain documentation, reports, and dashboards related to data quality, system performance, and key metrics for stakeholders within the School of Social Work.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding data-related inquiries, troubleshooting, and utilization of educational technologies.
  • Collaborate with the IT department and vendors to resolve technical issues, implement updates, and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, education, or a related field
  • 2 years of direct experience in providing technical support for online learning platforms such as Canvas, Brightspace, and Zoom

The hourly rate range for this position is $56.03 - $62.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
