Project Assistant

Keck School of Medicine Alhambra, California

The Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, Alhambra Campus, is seeking a Project Assistant to join our team.  The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for technology--based programs necessitating knowledge concerning website monitoring and management. They must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments at any given time are essential. They must have excellent verbal and written communication techniques. The applicant should be able to interact comfortably with a variety of staff, partners, and professionals in order to facilitate the effective coordination of efforts. 

The person who takes this position will join the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) team, dedicated to promoting justice and dignity for older adults. The NCEA is one of nine elder justice resource centers funded by the Administration for Community Living, a federal agency under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The NCEA provides the latest information and resources on research, training, policy, and best practices on preventing and responding to elder mistreatment. This position is eligible for flexible (remote) work. They will be required to participate in regular team meetings and occasional on-site meetings and events at USC’s Health Sciences Alhambra Campus.

Major/Essential functions of the position:

  • Provide technical assistance for webinar hosting
  • Develop and produce multimedia content, including podcasts, recorded videos/webinars, presentations, and other materials for social media
  • Update and maintain websites
  • Investigate and address technological problems
  • Manage technological software, systems, and programs
  • Manage email marketing services
  • Gather, evaluate, and report analytics and user trends to improve content and web presence
  • Investigate opportunities to adapt new technologies to enhance efficiency
  • Provide technical assistance/information and referrals to NCEA requestors
  • Develop, conduct, and analyze surveys
  • Other tasks on an as-needed basis


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Demonstrated analytical capability in web-based metrics and reporting
  • Proficiency with webinar, video and sound editing software
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (i.e., WordPress) and plug-ins
  • Familiarity with social platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Spotify
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to research, organize and analyze information
  • Ability to anticipate potential issues and be proactive in formulating solutions
  • Ability to interpret university policies and applicable federal regulations
  • Must exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • A results-oriented focus with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time sensitive issues and meet strict deadlines
  • Interest in serving older adults and caregivers 

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Basic understanding of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • Knowledge of universal accessibility recommendations for websites and web-based events
  • Gerontology, Social Work, Public Health, Pre-Health background
  • Preferred Experience: 3 years
  • Bachelor's Degree

The hourly rate range for this position is $26.94 - $31.77. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
