Keck Medicine of USC includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the region’s first medical school; the renowned USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the first comprehensive cancer centers established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States; the USC Care Medical Group, a medical faculty practice; the Keck Medical Center of USC, which includes two acute care hospitals: 401-licensed bed Keck Hospital of USC and 60-licensed bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital; and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a 158-licensed bed community hospital. It also includes more than 40 outpatient facilities, some at affiliated hospitals, in Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Tulare and Ventura counties.

In 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked Keck Medical Center of USC among the Top 10 hospitals in the state and among the Top 50 hospitals in the United States in seven specialties: ophthalmology, urology, cancer, geriatrics, orthopedic surgery, nephrology and cardiology and heart surgery.

Staff Accountant - MSO Finance - Full Time 8 Hour Days

USC Care - MSO Finance Alhambra, California

This position will support the Management Service Office (MSO) Finance team by performing a variety of accounting assignments based on application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and in compliance with USC University and Keck Hospital policies & procedures.

  • Participates in the month-end close process to ensure financial statements are presented on time
  • Researches accounts and prepares journal entries to ensure that both revenue and expense are captured and accrued for monthly in a timely manner
  • Prepares general journal entries in Lawson and record journal vouchers in Kuali
  • Prepares monthly budget variance report, analyzes material variance and prepares adjustment entries and/or explanation
  • Reconcile & maintain the Balance Sheet Accounts on a monthly basis
  • Prepare allocation reports for Senior Business Officers of Clinical Departments
  • Prepare summary revenue reports for department directors of Centralized Business Offices
  • Perform research in order to assist with review, reporting, responding to inquiries and problem solving
  • Analyzes information and interprets data by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information
  • Assists in annual audits and prepares supporting documentation
  • Coordinates and prepares regularly scheduled reports
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university level accounting through intermediate accounting

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Demonstrated Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
• Communicate findings effectively both orally and in writing
• Follow instructions but capable of working independently with minimal supervision
• Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Attention to detail, motivated and self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Lawson and Kuali
• Experience with Excel intermediate functions
• Experience with heavy AP job functions
