Computer Scientist

Information Sciences Institute Arlington, Virginia

The Information Sciences Institute (ISI), part of the world-renowned Viterbi School of Engineering at USC, is home to nearly 250 researchers in a variety of fields, including computational systems and technology, intelligent systems, and networking, who carry out world-class research in a collaborative, academic environment. ISI scientists have the opportunity to spend the majority of their time doing the research they love. Projects are critically accelerated by research programmers and Ph.D. and M.S. students. ISI has three research campuses in Marina Del Rey, CA; Arlington, VA; and Waltham, MA.

This position is located in Arlington, VA.

ISI is looking for highly talented and motivated researchers with demonstrated expertise in embedded systems to join a team developing the system software for the next generation of high performance space processors. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong background in one (preferably multiple) of the following areas: ARM64 Linux development, real-time operating system development (e.g., RTEMS, VxWorks), and/or QEMU-based processor emulation
  • Experience in developing device drivers for high speed networking technologies is an advantage
  • Good written and oral skills needed to compose technical reports, write peer-reviewed papers, and deliver presentations to sponsors and academic audiences
  • Highly self-motivated, able to set goals, coordinate with teammates, and work semi-autonomously
