Human Resources Specialist

Ellison Institute- Administration Beverly Hills, California

The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC is a personal, concierge oncology clinic providing individualized, high quality care to our patients.  We aim to advance the prevention and care of cancer through the latest biomedical research, personalized medicine, and clinical trials. The most cutting-edge cancer treatment options are offered to patients with a cancer diagnosis by some of the nation’s utmost respected, recognized, and knowledgeable doctors in the field of medical oncology. The Ellison Institute is also comprised of the USC Center for Applied Molecular Medicine, which allows current molecular technologies to help guide care for patients with cancer.

We are seeking a forward thinking and passionate Human Resources Specialist to join our team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional responsibilities for day-to-day administration of human resource program(s) covering the following: employee relations, recruitment/hiring, policy implementation, job analysis, project management, metric reporting, data entry, training and culture evolution.
  • Assists Clinical Office Manager, Human Resource Director, Chief Operating Officer, administrators, directors, managers and supervisors with resolution of moderate to complex employee relations work-related problems, issues and complaints and/or staffing needs, recruitment, hiring and on-boarding matters.
  • Will provide employee counseling and candidate and/or employee interviewing for designated human resource area(s) of activity.
  • Develops, applies and interprets designated human resource internal policies and procedures for program(s) and services.
  • Advises administrators, directors, managers and supervisors on the application of related human resource policies, procedures, and guidelines and consults with appropriate university central personnel offices, as needed.
  • Responsible for the payroll input and coordination in USC’s HR System, Workday.
  • Primary HR liaison for Ellison Institute.
  • Position will report to Clinical Office Manager and Human Resources Director.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Directly related human resource experience providing thorough knowledge of laws governing human resource and policies and procedures. Knowledge of human resource theories, principles and practices. Knowledge of principles and processes involved in
  • business and organizational planning, coordination and execution. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Field of Expertise:

  • Human resource generalist experience in a university setting. One or more of the following certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP.
  • Knowledge of Workday or PeopleSoft

Salary Range:

  • 65K to 90K

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 3 years
