The Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC provides care for every member of the family, across generations and over lifetimes. We aim to enhance the quality of life for underserved and vulnerable patients, while educating future generations of highly skilled, compassionate primary care specialists. Our goal is to combine education, patient advocacy, and evidence-based research to advance family medicine and geriatrics.

The Department of Family Medicine (DFM) is seeking a full-time physician to join the faculty practice and serve as Chief Medical Officer for the USC affiliated Las Vegas Culinary Workers’ (LVCW) practice.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in clinical administration and be skilled in primary care growth and innovations strategies, business and practice development and fiscal operations.  Candidate will hold a current M.D. or D.O. medical license, be board certified in Family Medicine or equivalent and have a record of progressive administrative experience in a variety of practice settings, preferably in an academic medical center setting. This candidate will take pride in providing exceptional, person-centered care and embrace the Family Medicine approach of caring for people and their families in the context of their communities by promoting wellness through high-tech and holistic approaches.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Under supervision of Department Chair, the Chief Medical Officer guides the primary care strategy development and provides operational and administrative oversight of all clinical activities within the DFM. Estimated 60% of time.

  • Supervises the medical providers in the LCVW practice sites.

Meets monthly with DFM leadership to report on care quality, policies, and provider development, competency and performance.

  • In conjunction with Keck Medicine of USC, develops mutually beneficial alliances and strategic partnerships to build the practice.
  • Implements innovative care delivery models to enhance clinical activity, team efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • s regularly with hospital administrative leadership to align LCVW strategic vision and business development, with the goals of KMC.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Builds and maintains an active outpatient panel.  Estimated 40% of time.

  • Obtains detailed and accurate medical histories from patients. Performs appropriate physical examinations, delineates problems, and records the information in the electronic health record.
  • Develops patient centered care plans that incorporate counseling on healthy lifestyle choices, preventative medical care and psychosocial stressors, as well as coordination of referrals to specialty and behavioral health services.
  • Performs and/or interprets common laboratory, radiological, and other routine diagnostic procedures- as needed.
  • Performs medical such as: physical exams, minor procedures, pap smears, suturing and wound care and caring for adults and children with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Provides continuity of care in the management of complex illnesses.
  • Participates on call panel for ill or injured patients and those seeking medical advice after hours.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • The opportunity to teach medical and PA students is available, if desired.
