Academic Advisor

Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Los Angeles, California

The Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is seeking an Academic Advisor to join our innovative and collaborative team. This role will provide mandatory academic advisement each semester to a caseload of 250 undergraduate students in addition to taking on a collaborative role in departmental initiatives and programs.  Ideal candidates for this position will have a passion for working with undergraduate students as well as demonstrated experience and success in supporting students in their academic journeys and collaborating with campus colleagues.

This is a hybrid position- two days work from home and three days in the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide mandatory academic advisement for a caseload of 250 undergraduate students enrolled within the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the robust University support services available to USC students and make student referrals as appropriate.
  • Participate in programming that support student success, including unique, curated programming for Annenberg students
  • Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in academic advisement or other student facing support function.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, exhibiting strategic thinking, sound judgment, strong oral and professional skills, initiative and flexibility.
  • Master’s degree preferred in counseling or higher education administration

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time, exempt staff position.

  • The hourly range for this position is $28.50 - $30.00 When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
