About the Opportunity
As a premier research university, USC attracts over $1 billion in funded research. Over 500 specially trained postdoctoral scholars often work with USC faculty to conduct research across most academic fields of study. Under the supervision of the Senior Manager for Postdoctoral Affairs, this position advances USC’s overall research mission by supporting postdoc scholars and USC’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA). Responsibilities will include support of the Provost Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity, USC’s Presidential Sustainability Solutions Postdoctoral Scholars, and other USC Signature Postdoctoral programs and opportunities.
This is a FIXED TERM, 50% position.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Management of two postdoc scholar application platforms, including:
- Processing applications to ensure receipt of required materials
- Disseminating application files and materials to committee members
- Follow up and correspondence with applicants as needed
- Assist with on-boarding of new postdocs, including:
- Verifying appointment letters, updating HR files, ensuring benefits enrollment, and facilitating registration as required
- Assist with on-campus postdoc meetings, including serving as notetaker when needed
- Assist with programming (e.g., events, conference, colloquia, and roundtables) as needed
- Assist with program development
- Updates to the website and other communications on behalf of the Office of Postdoctoral Affair

Experience and Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelors
Minimum Experience & Field of Expertise:: 1-2 years Administrative or project coordination
Preferred Field Expertise: Field in which faculty engage in significant research activities
The hourly rate range for this position is $24.73 - $27.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Experience: 0-6 months Minimum Field of Expertise: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for interacting with both domestic and international stakeholders. Demonstrated attention to detail. Proven ability to plan, implement, and coordinate program logistics. Demonstrated database/data entry experience. Proven project management and problem solving skills, able to handle multiple timelines, changing priorities, and fluctuating workloads.
