Adjunct instructor, Bridging the Media Gap Between L.A. Influencers and Independent Journalists
Apply Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Faculty Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California seeks an adjunct instructor, specializing in food and culinary arts reporting and analysis, to teach JOUR 499: Bridging the Gap Between A. Influencers and Independent Journalists, Fall 2025.
This course examines best practices for influencers and journalists or finding a balance of both as a career. We seek for applicants who are experienced in topics that include creating content, ethical considerations, entrepreneurial strategies, legal issues, building brands, collaborative storytelling, engaging audiences and building trust. A specific lens on news, community reporting, food, health and culture in Los Angeles and beyond will be considered.
Requirements for consideration include a B.A., B.S., M.S., or an MA degree in a related field (especially journalism, English, creative or non-fiction writing.)
Previous teaching experience is desirable.
The hourly range for this position is $37.88– $46.96. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
