Application Developer Analyst, Principal - IS App Development - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)
Apply Keck Medicine of USC Hospital Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Application Developer Analyst, Principal will be responsible to work with various Keck Hospitals departments to build sites and develop applications and participate in evaluating new technologies to ensure continuity and advancement of technology architecture and platforms. The incumbent will ensure best practices are utilized and processes are maintained to ensure integrity and availability of all data across our SP platform and organization's information systems. Make sure that the business sites and apps needed for a business function and running smoothly, acting as a technical point of contact to fix application and site issues - on an immediate basis. Work within IT departments alongside Application Sr. Developers and SP Architect ensuring all applications and sites are working at optimal levels. Responsible for training and support to departments on deployed application. Provide deep analysis and diagnosis of application errors problem resolution in both the long and short term design and development of existing and new applications road testing and implementation of new applications. Analyzes user requirements and recommends Applications solutions, envisioning system features and functionality - Designs, develops and implements Applications by strictly adhering to the Agile guidelines. In addition, the Application Developer Analyst, Principal will lead application projects and publishes consistent project updates to business stakeholders and IT leadership and coordinates project work with team members, department teams and third-party software development providers. As needed, this position will mentor and guide team members with best practices for Application development and support and will work collaboratively with other team members to foster an environment of respect, open communication and cross functional expertise.
Essential Duties:
- Solution Design and Development: Analyse events, documentation, requirements and needs to design and develop solutions to solve problems and/or meet organization’s needs. Responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, apps, and forms from layout to function and according to a client's specifications. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. Write complex code using semantic X/HTML, CSS and other technologies to create content production templates or other interactive systems.
- Team Work and Project Management: Helps team leader/manager/director to establish project goals, milestones and procedures, Works on projects throughout the organization, monitors and reports on project task progress, and involved in multiple projects. Manages own work efforts for projects, including manages sub-team and project team. Work with app developer, system administrators, app architects and client technical developers to develop fast and dynamic software applications. Leads small/medium projects. Develops work plan and time schedules for computing projects including outlining phases and software requirements.
- Performance Improvement/Transformation/Innovation: Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of and actively participates in performance improvement activities, identifies and proactively pursues business transformation, uses innovation to enhance/solve current system and business workflow problems. Act as a subject matter expert for department functions in relationship to implementing and managing responsible systems. Takes the initiative to search for and identify alternative and/or innovative solutions to technical problems. Substantiates options and recommendations with analysis providing cost benefit information and/or appropriate advantages/disadvantages incorporating business goals, standards, strategies, and Performance Improvement.
- Technical Skills and Industry Knowledge: Works independently on complex system activities both project and operational support-related, understands application build, design, and technical infrastructure, maintains knowledge up-to-date, is a technical resource for others, follows technology practices and standards. Knowledgeable of industry best practices, conventions and regulations as well as emerging and evolving technologies. Monitors emerging trends and evolving technologies, and systems applications. Documents system procedures and guidelines for users. Analyzes current and new programming languages, hardware and software, to identify possible new system applications enhancements. Makes recommendations for additional system enhancements, modifications, and functionalities.
- Customer Service: Resolve customer questions and complaints, communicates with customers, handles services problems and tickets politely and efficiently, always available for customers, follows procedures, utilizes problem solving skills, maintains pleasant and professional image. Customers may include both internal department users, vendors, and peers within IS. Responds to applications system problems and makes necessary corrections and/or modifications to resolve problems.
- Reports & Analytics: Ability to generate both standard and ad hoc reports. Ability to design and assist in developing non-standard/custom reports as required.
- Training: Responsible for assisting in training new/current staff members on applicable systems/applications. Responsible for working with customer and/or vendors with training on new systems being implemented and rolled out for use in the departments. Develops training manuals and programs, and provides training to users.
- Other Duties and On-Call: Ability to fulfil On-Call requirements and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor's degree Degree in a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant business experience if no Bachelor’s degree
- Req 8 years Minimum 8 years of relevant experience o Minimum 12 years of relevant business if no Bachelor’s degree
- Req 4 years Minimum 4 years in an IS healthcare setting
- Req Minimum of 2 full life cycle implementations (from scoping/planning, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, go-live and support)
- Req Back-end Coding experience required
- Req Good organization skills with ability to prioritize multiple activities in a rapidly changing environment
- Req Strong customer service focus
- Req Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)

- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $133,120.00 - $219,648.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
