Assistant Branch Manager, Campus Center Branch

USC Credit Union Los Angeles, California

USC Credit Union is looking for an experienced Assistant Branch Manager for its student-centered on-campus branch. This position is responsible for supervising and coaching assigned staff to ensure service standards are met. The position is also responsible for building and fostering relationships with USCCU’s members and potential members. The Assistant Branch Manager gathers and analyzes member data at the time of each interaction to respond to inquiries and offer customized solutions using in-depth knowledge of USCCU products, services, and technologies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assigning prioritizing, and scheduling work. Assessing performance and providing regular feedback to staff
  • Consistently meeting established performance standards and participating in professional development programs to increase service standards and sales goals.
  • Developing and deepening member relationships by providing high-quality consultative service that identifies member needs and matches those needs with value-added USCCU products and services.
  • Processing member transactions efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. Includes loan payments, new account application, lending applications, and all related documentation.
  • Using credit scoring, sound lending practices and solid judgment to make lending recommendations or decisions, exploring other lending alternatives with members, as appropriate.
  • Approving and funding consumer loans in accordance with credit union guidelines.  Completing documents required to perfect a lien on consumer loan collateral.
  • Informing members of loan denials and providing counseling regarding opportunities for improvement and future eligibility
  • Opening IRA share accounts including deposits, transfers, and rollers
  • Opening fiduciary accounts including but not limited to trusts, UTMAs, processing deceased member claims, representative payee, club accounts, small business accounts, etc. 
  • Assisting members in completing appropriate documents required to ensure tax protection status.
  • Assisting with training of other member service representatives
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures as they relate to USCCU’s products and services.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.

In addition to above, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years’ experience in in sales, retail, or financial institutions (operating in a sales-driven environment)
  • Comfortable in a competitive, high volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed established performance goals in a financial services environment.
  • Flexibility with scheduling that may include occasional Saturday hours and weekday afternoon/evening hours.
  • A high sense of urgency, attention to detail, initiative, and integrity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service and communication skills

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this position is $66,000 - $71,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 5 years at a financial institution, interpreting and applying pertinent policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements Minimum Skills: Knowledge of credit union service standards and loan operations, as well as all relevant local, state, and federal regulations governing financial institutions. Experience in a management or leadership role. Written and oral communication skills, able to provide both detailed information and summaries to relevant stakeholders. Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree Preferred Skills: Experience in a management role at a financial institution. Knowledge of human resources processes, and experience interviewing, mediating, and teaching/training staff. Written and oral fluency in Spanish and/or other foreign languages. Experience with social media and multi-platform communications and marketing plans.
