Assistant Professor in Premodern Korean Studies

The position is expected to begin August 2024.
We welcome applications from candidates working in any periods or disciplines of premodern Korea. Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to archeology, art history, history, literature and cultural studies, and religious studies. Priority will be given to candidates who combine a broad knowledge of archival resources with comparative and interregional methodologies that are applicable across linguistic, cultural, and political borders. The successful candidate will complement existing faculty strengths in the department and other related academic units, diversify and enhance our undergraduate and graduate course offerings, and show a strong commitment to inclusive teaching and service.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. Interested candidates should provide: 1) a letter of interest; 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) statements of research, teaching, and diversity; 4) a recent writing sample or publication; 5) two sample syllabi; and 6) the names and contact information of three referees who will be contacted through a system-generated email to provide letters.

The annual base salary range for this position is $99,800 - $105,400.
