Associate Professor of Clincial Business Communication (Open Rank)

Marshall School of Business Faculty Los Angeles, California

The Department of Business Communication in the Marshall School of Business invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Business Communication (non-tenure-track, rank dependent on experience and qualifications) beginning in the academic year 2024-2025.

The Department of Business Communication is the largest unit of its kind in the U.S. at a top-tier university. Our faculty come from a range of professional and academic backgrounds and take pride in their commitment to delivering an education that reflects trends in current business communication studies.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in communication strategy, organizational and leadership communication, and advanced writing for business.

We seek applicants who are passionate about teaching the next generation of business leaders and who have expertise or are focusing their research on new media/organizational communication, business ethics, workplace diversity, or international/cross-cultural communication. A wide range of service opportunities will complement your engagement with our vibrant community.

While some non-tenure-track positions in the department do not include a research component and will be considered for this position, we are especially interested in candidates who are interested in and can demonstrate potential to add to the research portfolio of the department and school. Areas of interest in any managerial, professional, or business communication field of study are welcome. Candidates whose research advances our understanding of business communication related to technology (including AI), social/digital media, interpersonal communication, leadership communication, organizational communication, or intercultural communication are especially encouraged.

We welcome applicants who desire to be part of an inclusive community that understands the value of culture, race, ethnicity, protected veteran status, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic factors in preparing future equity-minded leaders, innovators, and visionaries.

Strong candidates should have a background in business with an understanding of today’s global business environment. Within your materials, please share how you would contribute to and promote Marshall’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, curricula, and research. Experience with online instruction and classroom technology is expected. A Ph.D. in a related field is preferred. USC offers competitive salaries, professional development support, and excellent benefits packages.

Salary is dependent on qualifications, and employee benefits for full-time faculty are excellent.  The annual base salary range for this position is $84,608 - $133,236. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
