Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is seeking an Associate Professor of Clinical OB/GYN to join the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.  This is a full-time position. The new faculty member is expected to perform clinical duties in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at USC Fertility, perform independent clinical research, teach medical students, residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and fellows in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Physician will be performing ultrasound examinations, managing the stimulations of patients undergoing IVF treatment, and performing egg retrieval, endoscopic surgery and embryo transfer procedures. Physician must be licensed by the Medical Board of California and must be board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  They must also be board certified in the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Physician must demonstrate an ability to conduct research, either in the clinical or translational arena.  Physician must have an ability and willingness to teach at all levels:  Medical students, residents, and fellows.  The new faculty member will be expected to mentor residents and fellows and present lectures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current valid license/certification to practice medicine in the state of California, DEA certificate, and CPR certification
  • Board certification in OB/GYN
  • Board certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with supervisors, physicians, nurses, other staff, students, patients, and their families, etc
  • Possess a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism
  • Minimum of 3 years since completion of fellowship

Job Accountabilities:

  • Obtains detailed and accurate medical histories from patients. Performs appropriate physical examinations, delineates problems, and records the information
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, including the coordination of referrals to specialty and social services, the recording pf progress notes, and the provision of continuity of care
  • Arranges follow-up plans as appropriate for patients’ medical problems, and ensures that patients understand discharge instructions, and follow-up planning
  • Devises expedited diagnostic and treatment plans to address the patients’ acute medical needs
  • Performs and/or interprets common laboratory, radiological, and other diagnostic procedures
  • Performs medical procedures such as egg retrievals, embryo transfers, and manages complications of OB/GYN conditions
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, family planning, and emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance
  • Counsels patients on medical and psychological problems, and provides medical treatment where appropriate, such as for minor illnesses
  • Teaches, mentors, and lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Performs independent research of a clinical or translational nature leading to timely promotion
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties any time

The annual base salary range for this position is $350,000-$380,000 with opportunities for bonus payment based on clinical activity.
