Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery (Tenure Track)

Associate Professor of Research Neurological Surgery
The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in

The Keck School of Medicine of USC Department of Neurological Surgery is currently seeking
a full-time, tenure track Associate Professor of Research Neurological Surgery. This faculty
member will work within the USC Neurorestoration Center and collaborate with neurosurgeons
and neurologists to develop proof-of-concept neurorestoration technologies and models. The
ideal applicant will have expertise in cortical prosthesis for restoration and enhancement of
cognitive functions; combined mechanistic and input-output modeling of the brain; experimental,
theoretical, and computational studies of the hippocampus; and, next-generation neural interface
technology for chronic large-scale recording and stimulation during naturalistic behaviors, with a
track record of research publications. This unique opportunity provides room for independent
and collaborative research with a dedicated faculty of neurosurgeons and neurologists who are
committed to building a world-class research program, including opportunities to work with
faculty and students at both USC and Caltech.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree. Ideal candidates will have a track record of postdoctoral
work that demonstrates exceptional performance in research environments, leading projects, and
working closely with or mentoring junior scientists/PhD candidates during their research time.
Experience in the field of neuroscience is ideal. This position offers a competitive salary with
excellent university benefits and an academic appointment at the Keck School of Medicine of
USC appropriate to the level of training and experience.

The annual base salary range for this position is $155,702-$218,94.  When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
