Audiology Technician - Center for Childhood Communications - Part Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)
Apply Keck Medicine of USC Hospital Los Angeles, CaliforniaPerforms complex and varied administrative assignments to support Audiology Clinicians. Assists in management of non-billable clinical tasks to help clinicians perform at top of license. Must have well developed skills to enhance patient experience and avoid delays in patient access to equipment – including non-direct patient care equipment management, preparation, and tracking. Reports to the Clinic manager. Must adopt Keck Service Credo and Known Service Standards and Values. Must be comfortable with computers and medical terminology.
Essential Duties:
- Orders and prepares specialized hearing devices and audio logic equipment for patient appointments Troubleshoots malfunctioning earmolds or hearing protection. Determines if replacements are needed.
- Maintain clinical databases and supply inventories to track and replace consumables, devices etc.
- Assists audiologist in the completion of audiometric evaluations
- Assists with marketing events at health fairs
- With appropriate training – provide patients with hearing aid use and care instructions and practice
- Maintains and cleans audiology booths and performs daily equipment checks under the supervision of an audiologist
- Ensures, patient test reports, new equipment documentation, are completed, signed and scanned into EMR. Ensures reports are available to physicians when needed.
- Promotes security by alerting appropriate personnel for safety, fire and other unsafe situations. Reports any unusual occurrences to supervisor. Responds to emergency situations using standard emergency protocols and procedures.(
- Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies.
- Ensure proper authorizations are obtained before visit. Schedules patient appointments as needed
- Perform earmold impressions including observation of the ear canals, earmold impression fabrication, packing and preparation of the molds to be sent to the manufacturer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req 1 year 1 year experience in relevant field,
- Req Experience working technically with hearing devices
- Req strong computer skills
- Req Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Bachelor's degree Bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders preferred
- Pref Audiology Aide Certification Employee highly encouraged to apply after departmental orientation.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $29.77.
