USC Housing, a division of USC Auxiliary Services, hosts more than 9,000 students, athletes, faculty, and staff throughout the year in over 50 properties on and off campus. We are seeking a Building Services Manager to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity:
With over 50 properties on and off campus, we need an organized, driven, and experienced Building Services Manager to help lead our team. You will ensure that we remain committed to the University’s values of excellence while we continue to provide the best USC experience to our students, faculty, staff, and guests. The Accountabilities:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers. Meet customer needs, offer options, resolve problems, and follow up with customers. Maintain friendly, helpful demeanor.
  • Recruit, screen, hire, train, and directly supervise all assigned subordinate staff. Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and feedback. Counsel, discipline, and/or terminate employees as required.
  • Schedule, assign, and prioritize workloads. Manage assigned projects to completion. Obtain estimates and make recommendations. Monitor project progress on a day to-day basis. Ensure timely completion of department’s work.
  • Manage onsite facility. Regularly open and/or close department. Ensure that department is near, orderly, and sufficiently stocked.
  • Conduct daily building inspections. Identify and resolve immediate operations issues in the building. Coordinate building maintenance and repairs with Housing Maintenance that affect normal building operation.
  • Ensure that customer needs are being met by staff in a timely, professional manner. Coordinate with other departments as needed to provide customer service.
  • Resolve difficult customer problems. Inform Director of customer issues, suggestions, or requests. Research, develop, and implement policies and procedures to improve the operations of the department.
  • Identify training needs and provide staff training for cleaning, proper chemical use, and safety.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all departmental and University policies and procedures as well as applicable government and industry standards and ensure adherence to them.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and mandatory reporter under the Clery Act based on University responsibilities. Have responsibility and required to receive reports of crimes or criminal incidents from victims of crimes and/or third parties; notify Department of Public Safety immediately of any reported serious crime or criminal incidents that indicates the presence of an ongoing threat to the university community; and notify the Clery Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Public Safety.
  • Develop and implement security related procedures such as office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals, and key controls. Coordinate security activities with university Public Safety Department. Promote and maintain standards for security conscious awareness and behavior. Maintain knowledge of university's crime prevention and suppression programs and services. Ensure dissemination of security related information to staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The Qualifiers:

  • Education: Associate’s Degree.
  • Experience: 2 years.
  • Expertise:
    • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.
    • Experience supervising, coaching, and training other employees.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and University laws and policies.
    • Must be knowledgeable with MS Office and capable of learning web-based software programs.

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3 years of experience in Housing/Residential/Building Services industry.
  • Budgeting and purchasing experience.
