Buyer - Pharmacy - Full Time 8 Hour Rotating Shifts (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Keck Medicine of USC Hospital Los Angeles, California

The Buyer is responsible on releasing and ordering supplies through Materials Management system. Work with Accounts Payable on trouble shooting to resolve any discrepancies on the PO. Maintaining Item and Vendor files in Materials management System.

The pharmacy buyer is responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of medications and supplies and supervises the medication ordering process and is directly supervised by the Director of Pharmacy and designee.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain medication, and supply levels by direct and wholesale purchasing.
  • Establish and maintain departmental, interdepartmental, and hospital wide medication levels.
  • Review and meet contract compliance @ 97%, and meets monthly, yearly medication budget.
  • Coordinate and arrange bi-yearly inventories.
  • Report drug recalls and all drug shortages to the Pharmacist In-Charge.
  • Reconcile emergency acquisition slips.
  • Receive and reconcile drug deliveries.
  • Validating and distributing all medication and supply invoices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Specialized/technical training Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician School or Training Course
  • Or 5 years experience in hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Req 5 years Experience in Hospital In- Patient Facility.
  • Req Knowledge of medical surgical material.
  • Req Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Req Knowledge of general office operation in hospital Materials’s Management environment.
  • Req Ability to use internet to search for vendors and products.
  • Req Ability to analyze and compare bids.
  • Req Knowledge of vendors providing goods and services to Hospital.
  • Req Working knowledge of AS400 computer

Preferred Qualifications:

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
  • Req Board of Pharmacy License Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy (Technician)

The hourly rate range for this position is $25.00 - $39.69.
