Clinic Assistant
Apply Keck School of Medicine Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe USC Roski Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Clinic Assistant to join its team.
The position is to coordinate and schedule all aspects of patient appointments and surgeries for ophthalmologists assigned for the Arcadia clinic.
Job Summary:
Coordinating varies functions, including pre-operative testing, insurance verification, obtaining pre-authorizations and scheduling post-operative visits. In addition, provide administrative support including collecting patient payments, performing insurance verification, scheduling follow-up appointments and/or ancillary testing, obtaining records, and assisting in patient registration system(s).
Job Accountabilities include:
- Schedules patient appointments, answers general questions, obtains authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services. Schedules appointments and surgery with ancillary departments or other care providers as needed. Maintains master calendar for physician(s).
- Ensures patient EMR charts are accurate prior to appointment including x-rays, pertinent lab work, and arrangements to obtain any special equipment needed. Assists with monitoring patient flow.
- Reviews and codes charge slips for patient care services rendered and/or surgeries performed. Develops supporting documentation for insurance claims to insurance carriers.
- Maintains files and records, oversees equipment and office supply inventory. Photocopies, collates faxes, distributes, mails, and performs errands. Reads and prioritizes incoming mail. Handles or routes as appropriate.
- Ensures that physician orders for medications and treatments are implemented by the appropriate staff.
