The Division of Comfort and Palliative Care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles offers a consultative service to patients, their families, and medical staff. Comprising of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists, and administrative support, the team aims to promote healing, provide comfort, alleviate suffering, and create a supportive environment in collaboration with the healthcare community.
The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about interprofessional palliative care, capable of collaborative work with referring providers, and dedicated to serving underserved populations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, expertise in pain and symptom management, and comfort in providing end-of-life care for patients with complex medical conditions are essential. Responsibilities include providing palliative medicine consultation and ongoing care in hospital and ambulatory settings, as well as communicating with primary medical teams. Additionally, the division hosts an ACGME accredited hospice and palliative medicine fellowship, requiring the physician's participation in interprofessional educational activities with fellowship, residency, and student trainees. Opportunities for research, quality improvement efforts, and leadership cultivation are also available within the Division.
The annual base salary range for this position is $198,731-$231,511. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Requirements:
- Board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Board certified in Pediatrics; consideration given to board certification in Family Practice, Pediatric Anesthesiology, and other pediatric specialties
- Active medical license in the State of California
