Computer Services Consultant II

The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking a Computer Services Consultant II to provide technical support, assistance and advice in the use of computer hardware, software and networks to faculty, staff and students.  The ideal candidate will perform analytical, technical and administrative work to plan, design and install networked and stand-alone computer systems for offices, labs and classrooms.  Will assist faculty, staff and students in using computer resources to enhance research and educational activities; analyze user needs; evaluate new products and recommend hardware and software purchases.

Experience supporting and deploying Windows and macOS systems, Android and iOS tablets/mobile devices, and troubleshooting hardware and software is required. Experience with operating in a helpdesk environment is preferable. Additional knowledge of wired and wireless networks and troubleshooting is preferred.

Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office 365, anti-virus/anti-spyware software, browsers, and email clients is essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Entra and endpoint management using Microsoft Intune technologies is preferable.  Experience with Apple Mac devices and management using JAMF is desirable. 

This role also provides classroom A/V support to ensure ongoing delivery of teaching. Prior experience with integrated A/V systems is a plus. An understanding of lecture capture and streaming technologies is required.

The successful applicant must have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate technical information in a user-friendly manner.  Must be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and function in a collaborative working environment. Prior experience in training and public speaking is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience.  Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education. 

The hourly rate range for this position is $35.12 - $39.49.  When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of computing environments. Experience with networks, workstations, wireless communication, security software and procedures. Working knowledge of associated hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals.
