Data Coordinator - Kidney Acquisition - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

The Data Coordinator is responsible for obtaining, verifying and managing call management and on-call data. This includes data collection, data verification; data assurance and data analysis. The Data Coordinator is responsible for assisting administration (defined as but not limited to quality and outcomes management, medical staff department/committees and other hospital departments) by generating reports for process improvement and quality outcomes data management. He/She is additionally responsible for gathering data necessary to meet requirements and requests for regulatory agencies as determined by the hospital's management.

The Data Coordinator is responsible for assisting transplant quality. A key component of this position will be to extract data from the transplant and hospital EMR and the data warehouse to generate reports for process improvement and quality outcomes data management. The data coordinator is additionally responsible for gathering data necessary to meet requirements and requests for regulatory agencies as determined by the hospital's management and transplant leadership.

Essential Duties:

  • Ability to relay data from specifically assigned projects. Ability to clarify charts/graphs/spreadsheets created from data.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Convert data into meaningful and straight-forward spreadsheets and tables, utilizing functions (formulas) and manipulating the data to retrieve desired information.
  • Ability to use hospital electronic systems and platforms to extrapolate data and format information into accessible, consistent and comprehensive ways.
  • Partners with transplant and hospital IT to assure data is generating correctly and in a reliable format. Maintains an awareness of expected outcomes to trouble-shoot inaccurate or inconsistent data points. Works with IT to resolve any issues compromising data accuracy.
  • Works in partnership with internal and external staff to resolve any systematic or IT errors preventing appropriate data extraction.
  • Provides requested reports and materials in a timely manner and actively works to meet project timelines and deadlines.
  • Maintains a calendar of routine reports and data requests so they can be provided without request.
  • Maintains historical record of all reports, requests and data to track trends and provides data upon request.
  • Performs quality assurance activities as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Excellent working knowledge of clinical data elements, medical terminology and understanding of data organization and management.
  • Req Excellent skills in data entry, data extraction and data-base relationships
  • Req Detail-oriented with an awareness of data accuracy and its impact on quality outcomes and reporting
  • Req Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Req Knowledgeable of UNOS, CMS and JCAHO standards preferred, especially those related to performance improvement.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Associate's degree
  • Pref Bachelor's degree In a health-related field
  • Pref Experience in data management, supervisory role, Health information System, clinical technology in a related field in an acute care facility
  • Pref Certified Medical Assistant - CMA


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $19.00 - $29.77.
