Director, Financial Operations - Finance Admin - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

Reporting to the Chief of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Director of Financial Operations is responsible for the daily and long-term financial operations and planning of the Health Systems This position will also function as a financial leader and primary liaison to the Health System's departments. The Director is responsible for supporting the management team's financial information, analytical and reporting needs and for providing the focus and drive to actively respond to and plan for changes in the financial environment as may be necessary within the entities.

Essential Duties:

  • Labor Management: Has oversight and/or involvement in regular submissions of external benchmarking (i.e. Action OI and/ or Practice Insights, MGMA, etc.)
  • Responsible for the daily and long-term financial operations and planning of the Health Systems.
  • Performs routine analysis, divisional and/or departmental productivity performance.
  • Supports Corporate department budget and monthly variance analysis
  • Manages data analysis interpretation by reviewing insights, reports, and presentations to craft a cohesive story for stakeholders
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost analytics and regularly communicates any risks and issues with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Creates a cohesive picture of enterprise performance utilizing KPI trends across various functions within the organization.
  • Drives the analytics, development, coordination, and management of the portfolio of activities that are focused on improving financial health of the organization.
  • Manage and coordinate the margin improvement portfolio intake, tracking and monitoring.
  • Supervise and coordinate the Financial Planning & Analysis goals and processes, provide day to day leadership to staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor’s Degree In Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Additional 3 years of experience in hospital/healthcare budgeting may substitute for minimum required education.
  • Req 7 years Experience in hospital/healthcare budgeting.
  • Req 3-5 years Progressive leadership experience and supervising a team
  • Req Experienced Manager or Senior Budget/Reimbursement Analyst.
  • Req Skills and experience to function independently.
  • Req Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
  • Req Thorough knowledge of management principles, budgeting, finance, accounting and applicable laws/regulations.
  • Req Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Master’s degree In Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Pref Hands-on experience preparing and analyzing acute care hospital budgets and third party cost reports.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $158,080.00 - $260,832.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
