The University of Southern California’s (USC’s) Information Technology Services is seeking a talented Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join its team. As the Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics, you will be an integral member of the Application Services team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to help solve multidimensional information technology problems, improve customer experience, and generate value for our campus stakeholders across a broad base of departments and constituencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate for the position of Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business management, computer science, data science, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eight years of experience in one of the following fields: information technology or higher education. Minimum of three years of experience in a management or leadership role.
  • Proven ability to anticipate customer needs and future and emerging trends and to articulate a vision and strategy that motivate others to action.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply pertinent policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements.
  • Extensive experience with leading enterprise data warehouse technologies.
  • Extensive experience with leading ETL technologies.
  • Experience with embedded reporting functions for SaaS products such as Workday.
  • Proven track record in establishing strong customer relationships and delivering customer-focused solutions within a large IT enterprise.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members; demonstrated experience in leading a multifunctional team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the position of Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics has the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as business management, computer science, data science, etc.
  • More than ten years of experience in one of the following fields: information technology or higher education. Five or more years of experience in a management or leadership role.
  • Extensive experience with MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle databases.
  • Extensive experience with IBM Cognos and Tableau software.
  • Experience with cloud data and data-management solutions from providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Informatica Cloud Services.
  • Is a persuasive and effective communicator with the ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders and with experience presenting the business side of technical topics to non-technical audiences.

THE WORK YOU WILL DO

The Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics defines enterprise information strategy and governance to optimize the business intelligence and analytics value delivered to customers. The Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics enables business insights to support the growth and operational effectiveness of a best-in-class, leading-edge organization that enables data-driven decision making. As part of the leadership team, the Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics works with other ITS leaders to build strong alignment across the organization. As a member of ITS, the Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics is expected to model and cultivate ITS’s cultural values and behaviors within his or her team.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:


The Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics:

  • Is accountable for the development of team members by helping them set and achieve goals for their career growth; fosters an inclusive environment that values differences and creates a sense of belonging and appreciation among team members.
  • Provides vision and high-level direction for enterprise data and analytics within the larger context of ITS and USC environments.
  • Works with other ITS leaders, customers, partners, and stakeholders to develop and manage a holistic strategy for delivering service quality and continuous service improvement.
  • Drives innovation and service and process improvements by designing and developing high-impact solutions through proof-of-concept development, business case development, feasibility analysis, and prototyping through delivery.
  • Leads research and implementation of new and emerging technologies to expand analytics capabilities and deliver innovative tools.
  • Works closely with ITS leadership to identify, implement, and support cost-effective, leading solutions for all aspects of application services.
  • Establishes and maintains trusted relationships with customers, partners, and ITS departments to build an information technology strategy that responds to the business vision, goals, and strategy of the university.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
