Electrical Engineer
Apply Facilities Management Services Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe University of Southern California (USC) department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its team.
The Work You Will Do:
The Electrical Engineer Assess existing electrical systems and provide scope for replacement & upgrade as part of the team based on USC Design standards, best practices, lessons learned, and applicable codes. Support design and implementation of engineering projects. Collaborate with other support program team members on updating Facility Design Guidelines & university best practices.
The Electrical Engineer:
Performs engineering analysis and design for assigned projects. Develops documentation in the form of drawings and specifications for bid and construction. Ensures project drawings and specifications comply with university standards and specifications and federal, state and local requirements. Provides construction phase support such as review of submittals, documents interpretation and field observation
Develops, monitors and implements policies, processes, standards and guidelines for various facility systems such as electrical, mechanical or plumbing systems to maintain quality control of project types and sizes. Recommends best industry practices in support of improving unit processes for meeting user needs.
Serves as program manager for Facilities Management Services (FMS) related programs and all individual projects encapsulated in programs. Provides leadership and direction on all project operations and activities such as the design, plan, schedule and scope of services. Identifies appropriate strategies to ensure delivery of quality of services with available resources. Provides technical expertise and support and management to Facilities Management Services (FMS) as it relates to utility infrastructure, energy management and environmental compliance. Interprets federal, state and local regulations to ensure compliance with existing regulations
Oversees, initiates and reviews feasibility studies to determine whether design concepts are compatible within existing infrastructures. Develops and recommends changes to design concepts, as necessary. Inspects current building systems such as AC unit, automatic controls and lights. Determines whether systems need to be repaired, replaced or retrofitted. Recommends equipment or systems to install.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Job Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the position of Electrical Engineer meets the following preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
All candidates for the position of Electrical Engineer must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Degree or matching minimum 10 years experience in electrical design and operation. PE (Professional Engineering license) a plus.
Experience in facilities management and/or installation/construction experience specifically related to mechanical trade a plus.
Valid State Driver's License
Work that involves exerting up to pounds of force to lift, carry, push or pull objects % of the day.
Work that requires climbing stairs.
The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
