Facilities Manager

Founded in 1905, the USC School of Pharmacy has played a key leadership role in both the advancement of the field of pharmacy and in the education of new generations of pharmacists, and remains one of the nation’s foremost schools of pharmacy today.

The USC School of Pharmacy is accepting applications for a Facilities Manager.  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Facilities Manger will manage the maintenance, renovation, allocation and utilization of space for the School of Pharmacy.  The Facilities Manager will interface with custodial, facilities management, and capital construction and/or outside contractors and vendors for facilities operations, maintenance, construction and renovation projects on behalf of the School of Pharmacy. 

Job Accountabilities:

  • Directly supervises all assigned staff. Schedules, assigns and prioritizes workloads. Sets appropriate deadlines. Ensures timely completion of unit's work. Monitors employee performance on a regular basis.
  • Manages and monitors facilities operations, maintenance, and construction and renovation projects. Coordinates with university departments and/or outside contractors and vendors and provides cost and status reports as requested.
  • Develops and administers the annual facilities operating budget. Reviews, authorizes and monitors expenses for utilities, materials and supplies, repairs, maintenance and project work. Provides budget reports on a regular basis.
  • Prepares long and short range plans for the use of facilities. Maintains analysis of space and equipment requirements and allocates usage based on departmental priorities.
  • Develops and implements deferred maintenance and preventative maintenance programs. Inspects equipment and coordinates required repairs and/or purchases.
  • Manages environmental health and safety programs. Conducts safety inspections, determining whether conditions are safe and any remedial actions required to allow work to continue. Provides health and safety equipment. Maintains records for compliance with government and university regulations.
  • Conducts periodic security surveys. Coordinates and resolves security concerns.  Controls procedures for facility access to include establishment of guidelines for issue of keys and maintenance of related records

Preferred Experience:  5-10 years facilities management, building systems experience preferred. 

Field of Expertise: Budget development and management along with work experience in facilities management is required. USC business services (Kuali, e-Market), USC Facilities and USC Capital Construction experience is a plus.

Must have the ability to communicate accurately, clearly and with a high standard of excellence both written and oral. Must conduct self in a personable and professional manner, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload appropriately.

Minimum Education: Related undergraduate study, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Coursework and/or experience in business administration along with work experience in facilities management
