Facilities Technician
Apply School of Cinematic Arts Los Angeles, CaliforniaUSC School of Cinematic Arts, Office of Facilities Management and Operations, is currently in search of a Facilities Technician to join our team. Our cutting-edge facilities encompass classrooms, computer labs, theatres, stages, administrative offices, exhibition halls, and a café.
The Facilities Technician will provide general maintenance and repairs for facilities and equipment which require basic knowledge in electrical, carpentry, painting, and locksmith services. The position is also responsible for the following:
- Oversee routine maintenance and inspection of facilities for deficiencies, health and safety hazards, and/or code violations.
- Perform and assist in preventive and corrective building and equipment maintenance tasks.
- Inspect and make minor repairs in mechanical rooms, teaching spaces, offices, and common areas to include interior and exterior.
- Respond to internal and external customer service requests.
- Create work orders, monitor, and follow-up on status to ensure assignments are completed properly and within established timeframe.
- Monitor and oversee contractors performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Review and respond to emails requiring actions.
- Assemble, breakdown, and/or relocates office or classroom furniture as requested.
- Install audio-visual equipment as requested.
- Implement security related procedures and ensures security measures are in place.
- Conduct opening procedures in absence of manager.
- Review event calendar system to schedule repairs in teaching and common area spaces.
The ideal candidate should be dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service and support to our faculty, staff, and students. Essential qualifications include effective communication skills, be organized, and have attention to detail. Moreover, the candidate should have prior experience in working with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Demonstrating the ability to make sound decisions, exercising good judgment, exhibiting self-drive, resourcefulness, and creativity in problem-solving are also key attributes we seek.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Specialized/Technical Training
- Experience: 2 years in general maintenance and repair for carpentry, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, painting, mechanics and engineering trades.
- Knowledge of computer software for record maintenance, email, and research on the internet.
- Valid Driver’s License
The hourly rate range for this position is $28.72-$29.20. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in general maintenance and repair for carpentry, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, painting, mechanics and engineering (e.g., air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems) trades. Knowledge of telecommunications software and hardware.
