Giving Engagement Officer, Classical California, KUSC

America’s major classical station KUSC, Los Angeles is hiring for a Giving Engagement Officer to support its fundraising efforts. This is an opportunity to work with the country’s most dynamic and successful classical stations, and to develop their growing brand.

Classical California’s mission is to make a positive impact on individuals and communities by championing the power of classical music. Our goal is to nurture a love of classical music for all, and we have an ambitious growth plan, including new on-air, online, and in-person engagement, to help achieve it.

Classical California is the largest classical music public media service in the U.S. It includes two major classical stations. KUSC is located in downtown Los Angeles and serves communities throughout Southern California. KDFC is located in downtown San Francisco, serving the Bay area and other communities in Northern California. The stations are licensed to the University of Southern California, one of the leading research universities in the nation, with a respected commitment to classical music, arts, and the community.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Philanthropic Officer, the Giving Engagement Officer, will be a key member of Classical California’s Development team. The focus of this position is to move identified donors of $1,000 to $2500 by strategically initiating, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individuals who currently support KUSC in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for launching a new fundraising program for mid-level giving, modeling such after the launch of KDFC’s mid-level giving program ($1000 donors to giving $2500 annually) to ensure a robust pipeline for major giving.

  • Manage a caseload of 500 individuals annually.

  • Create and execute a contact, marketing and communication plan for each tier of donors on the caseload that is focused on fulfilling the donor’s interests and passions develop strategies and create specialized, periodic communication materials such as quarterly communication pieces, requests for renewal, acknowledgments, and project reports, maintaining a strong model of touch points for the program.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact at KUSC, Los Angeles, for mid-level donors and prospects.

  • Create stewardship opportunities that provide continued engagement with individuals

  • Researches each donor through search engines to strengthen the database and provide detailed reports, as needed.

  • Analyze giving level trends and retention rates to maximize the success of renewal and upgrade strategies.

  • Tracks and analyzes results of communication vehicles and responses, adjusting activities where appropriate.

  • Assists with donor and community events, as needed.

  • Craft post-event follow-up emails and surveys for guests.

  • Collaborate with the Membership Department to develop, implement and test strategies to grow and strengthen the donor pipeline.

  • Track important individual notes and communications in Salesforce to successfully track moves management.

  • Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.

  • Other essential duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with a wide variety of internal/external stakeholders.

  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize work assignments, and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Experience maintaining and interpreting donor reports.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Extensive experience in relation to customer service

  • Experience with CRM - Salesforce preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising/development in the annual fund or major giving area.

Educational experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree

  • Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Fluent in one or more language in addition to English (e.g., Spanish).
