Operations Project Specialist - Support Services Admin - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Provides specialized professional support services to administrators and/or project managers in the administration of research and/or administrative projects. Assists in the administration and coordination of a variety of research and/or administrative projects including planning, budgeting, organizing, research and delivery of services. Coordinates and supervises work assignments of other administrative personnel as assigned.

The Project Specialist supports Keck Medicine of USC's sustainability initiatives, aligned with USC's Assignment: Earth program. Responsibilities include data analysis, project coordination, and reporting for sustainability efforts across energy, water, waste, transportation, procurement, and engagement. This role collaborates with internal teams, manages sustainability documentation, and assists in educational workshops and communications. Reporting to the Sustainability Program Manager, the Specialist ensures adherence to Keck Medicine's mission and strategic goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Analyze and report on sustainability data, supporting internal and external benchmarking.
  • Coordinate and support sustainability projects and educational initiatives.
  • Coordinate physical moves and manage inventory of furniture and supply reuse program at a storage warehouse.
  • Conduct waste stream audits to enhance diversion efforts.
  • Liaise with utility and waste management vendors as necessary.
  • Supports stakeholders on specific sustainability initiatives under the supervision of the manager.
  • Assist in project administration, including planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain databases for reporting purposes.
  • Attend and present at related events and meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Bachelor's degree Degree in a related field
  • Req 3 years Directly related project, analyst, or administrative experience.
  • Req Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Req PC skills. Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and project management programs.
  • Req Detail oriented individual with a high level of accuracy.
  • Req Ability to work independently to meet objectives.
  • Req Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Master’s degree
  • Combined experience/education may act as substitute for minimum education.
  • Pref Familiarity of greenhouse gas reporting and sustainability reporting in healthcare environments.


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.00 - $54.02.
