Part-Time Lecturer/Adjunct Instructor, School of Gerontology

The Leonard Davis School of Gerontology and Andrus Gerontology Center are multidisciplinary in their research and curriculum goals. This recruiting effort seeks candidates from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including graduates in disciplines and professions such as epidemiology, neuropsychology, and health services. Additionally, opportunities are available for joint appointments with academic units across the USC Campus. Cluster hires in areas of interest are possible.

We are in search of two Part-Time Lecturers or Adjunct Instructors specializing in aging-related services including Food Service, Health Care, Marketing, Branding, and Business Development. Candidates with a Graduate degree in Marketing or Business are preferred but other closely related fields will be considered. Applicants should have demonstrated experience working with or on behalf of older adults and a deep understanding of issues around how current and emergingaging services and organizationscan be leveraged to benefit older adults in the home, healthcare, and community settings.  Teaching experience is strongly preferred. 

Part-Time Lecturers and Adjunct Instructors spend most of their time on teaching and teaching-related duties and may also assist in the development of our new courses as well as the development of new curriculums as needed. USC reserves the “Adjunct Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty may teach one class each semester (summer, fall, and spring).

These are part-time roles that will require substantial commitment and flexibility. Instructors are required to teach in person (on –campus) and have regular office hours to assist our students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Marketing, Branding, Business Development
  • Experience with distance learning
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level

The base salary for each 4-unit course taught is $9,216.
