Led by Dean Julia M. Ritter, USC Kaufman has a renowned faculty and a roster of Artists in Residence.  USC Kaufman faculty are highly regarded in the field and have an unparalleled depth and diversity of experience. Under the faculty’s tutelage and through their work with many guest artists, BFA students receive the highest caliber of training, as well as the unique opportunity to learn and perform a wide variety of acclaimed repertoire. Students have worked with and performed works by some of the most profound artists in dance, including George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Martha Graham, Bill T. Jones, Jiří Kylián, Crystal Pite, Paul Taylor and many more. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance invites applications for Part-Time Supplemental Faculty. USC Kaufman seeks experienced educators to provide periodic and short term support to faculty in all genres and dance forms taught within the current curriculum, including but not limited to Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Ballroom, Bollywood, African, and Gaga. Guest Instructors will be hired on a short term contracts to teach during faculty absences. Teaching may include courses within the BFA curriculum as well as the School’s vast array of elective courses. Candidates must be established artists and educators who are recognized in the field of dance and/or have significant experience teaching at a collegiate level. Candidates will serve a diverse student population, must demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for historically under-served populations, and are expected to support the School’s diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts.

STARTING DATE: Appointments will begin in Fall 2023. Contracts will be short term, typically for 1-2 weeks at a time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Professional-level experience in teaching dance technique(s), preferably with experience in a university setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or M.F.A in Dance or related field.

  • Professional experience, with national recognition, as a teacher, performer and/or choreographer.

The hourly rate for this position is $62.50.
