Postdoctoral Scholar - Fellowship Trainee

Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC Los Angeles, California

Position Summary:
The USC Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology (CCMB) at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar - Fellowship Trainee to join our dynamic research team. This position provides an excellent opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in craniofacial biology, molecular mechanisms of development, and related fields.

The selected candidate will work under the mentorship of world-renowned researchers at CCMB, contributing to ongoing projects and developing independent research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct advanced research projects related to craniofacial molecular biology.
  • Apply state-of-the-art methodologies, including molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics, to investigate craniofacial development and disease.
  • Analyze data, prepare scientific manuscripts, and present findings at conferences and meetings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to students and research assistants as needed.
  • Participate in grant writing, progress reports, and laboratory meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., molecular biology, developmental biology, genetics, or related disciplines).
  • Strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including gene expression analysis, microscopy, and functional assays.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and analyze complex data.
  • Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in craniofacial biology, developmental biology, or bioinformatics.
  • Familiarity with advanced genomic techniques (e.g., RNA-seq, single-cell analysis) and computational tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

The annual base salary rate for this position is $68,640. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
