Program Specialist

The mission of the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is to improve the well-being of vulnerable individuals and communities, advance social and economic justice, and eradicate pressing societal problems in complex and culturally diverse urban environments throughout Southern California, the nation, and the world. Position Overview:

The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work’s Office of Recruitment and Workforce Development (ORWD) is seeking Academic and Career Enhancement Navigators (ACENs). As an ACEN, you will play a vital role in helping adults in our graduate and professional development training programs, including working professionals, achieve academic and career success, job and career readiness, and enhance their professional well-being. You will offer tailored and general guidance and support throughout their academic and career journeys, with expertise in utilizing workforce development and wellness perspectives to deliver services and supports that promote both academic and career enhancement, including:

  • Individual academic advising to enhance the educational experience.
  • Recruitment and networking events.
  • Career and professional development workshops and trainings, fostering job and career readiness.
  • Facilitating access to job opportunities.
  • Providing information on licensing and related certifications.
  • Equipping individuals with tools and resources to enhance their professional well-being and resilience.
  • Providing resources and strategies for long-term employment sustainability and advancement.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will extend to building relationships with stakeholders within workforce development communities to enhance career development and stay abreast of developments within the field. Additionally, you will contribute to the establishment of data collection measures, assess program effectiveness, and collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs to strategize and achieve individual, group, and institutional academic and professional goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

Your role may also encompass contribution to the development and monitoring of the program and project budgets, acting as points of contact for other academic programs, and coordinating production and dissemination of documents, such as presentations, handouts, and grant proposals.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years
  • Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, education, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience
  • The ideal candidate will possess leadership and guidance skills; a proven ability to manage and prioritize different tasks and projects; advanced knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, and occupational, career, and employment information sources; and asuperior level of professionalism, exceptional attention to detail, and exemplary written and oral communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Attributes: The ideal candidates will demonstrate  a strong understanding of school and university policies, support services, and resources. They will also exhibit qualities such as patiece, compassion, flexibility, and the ability to effectively engage with a diverse community of students, alumni, and professionals. 

Compensation: The hourly rate range for this position is $30.27 - $34.31. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, education and training, market considerations, and adherence to federal, state, and local laws.
