Research Associate

Keck School of Medicine Los Angeles, California

USC’s Keck School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Southern California Research Center for ALPD and Cirrhosis, is seeking a Research Associate to join its team.

We are seeking for a candidate experienced and qualified to pursue cell and molecular biology research on liver inflammation, fibrosis, and cancer. The incumbent will be involved in cutting edge techniques such as CRISP/Cas0 gene editing, genetic manipulation and lineage tracing in mice, single cell and spatial RNA sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipitation in addition to conventional biochemistry (immunoblotting and qPCR) in pursuit of the project and timely publications. Collaborative opportunities among the lab members and/or with other laboratories, are available.

The Research Associate plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor. Analyzes research data and provides interpretations; contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records.

The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. The Department aims to shape the future of pathology as it will be practiced in community hospitals, academic medical centers and clinical laboratories throughout the country.

This is a grant-funded position.

Shift:  Monday – Friday  8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, exempt position

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $66,902.30 - $73,710.  When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Minimum Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods. Preferred Experience: minimum of 2-3 years of experience in cell and molecular biology are required.
