Research Coordinator I

Preventive Medicine Los Angeles, California

The Department of Preventive Medicine, Division of Environmental Health is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish), dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented individual is needed to join a research team at the University of Southern California to participate in a research study called the “Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (MADRES)” Study. The study is investigating the effects of air pollutants, chemicals and stress on maternal weight gain during and weight retention after pregnancy and on infant birth weight and early life health and growth patterns.

Employment involves (1) recruiting and maintaining contact with women enrolled in the study and scheduling appointments for study visits; (2) conducting interviews in English and Spanish during pregnancy and collecting biological specimens from women; (3) entering data into databases; and (4) providing project support to the research study and the study staff personnel and faculty investigators.  Excellent English and Spanish writing and speaking skills are required. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational capabilities, superb problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks. Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends may be needed. Prior experience in a research environment is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is preferred.
