Research Coordinator I

Keck School of Medicine Los Angeles, California

The Environmental Justice Research Lab in the Division of Environmental Health is seeking a Research Coordinator I to join the team. Specifically, the position will support community-based participatory studies with recruitment, and data analysis. This position focuses on science related to air pollution, goods movement, oil and gas extraction. industrial contamination and other environmental health hazards with specific emphasis on impact to environmental justice communities in Los Angeles and Southern California. The ideal candidate for this position will be grounded in best practices of community engagement and research translation in public and environmental health and will have significant previous experience in the approaches we propose (e.g., community engagement, research translation for professional and lay audiences, community-driven monitoring and/or community-based participatory research), experience in environmental health, public health, or health sciences, and an interest in ensuring that the influences of research in these areas extend to public health protections. Bilingual candidates and those with data analysis skills are encouraged.

Preferred qualifications and experience: • Bachelor degree or higher • Familiarity with concepts of environmental justice and/or health disparities • Familiarity with R, SAS, STATA or GIS • Experience in research dissemination and community engagement • Excellent communication skills


The hourly rate range for this position is $29.98 - $30.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Administrative or research experience. Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Demonstrated effective communication and writing skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
