Research Lab Tech II

Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute Los Angeles, California

Provides general laboratory assistance to support research activities. Conduct research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols. Performs assignments which are non-routine and vary in complexity with minimal direction. Compiles data and computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques.

The laboratory is internationally recognized for research contributions in Alzheimer’s disease and stroke, and has interest in other neurodegenerative

diseases and stem cell technologies. State-of-the-art imaging and cellular and molecular methods for studies of brain vascular and neuronal functions are

available.

  • The candidate should have experience mammalian cell culture, and basic knowledge of ELISA and/or similar assays, and experience in molecular techniques such as PCR, and preparing samples for genotyping and sequencing.  
  • Conduct experiments under supervision of senior lab personnel
  • The candidate will be expected to maintain accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments, perform data analysis, adhere to laboratory safety protocols.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Cell culture and basic molecular biology.

Preferred Education: Master's degree in biochemistry, biology, neuroscience,

or related field. 


Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
