Senior Engagement Officer

Description

The University of Southern California School of Architecture seeks a talented and experienced senior engagement officer who excels in constituent relations, volunteer management, and events-related fundraising. This position is responsible for engaging alumni, family, and corporate constituents through a series of well-established fundraising events and volunteer-based programs. He/she identifies, cultivates and solicits donor prospects, and contributes to short- and long-term strategic planning efforts. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Development.

This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, high functioning interpersonal skills and significant project management experience .

Domestic travel, evening and weekend events is required from time to time. Candidates must reside within commuting distance to the USC University Park campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

- Organizes advancement programs related to constituent engagement and special events fundraising programs. Assesses, analyzes, and evaluates fundraising programs and specialized projects and manages volunteer teams through modifications and adjustments as needed.

- Manages volunteer groups related to specific advancement programs and events. Provides leadership and/or training and maintains a strict set of milestones and deadlines in order to ensure efficient planning and successful fundraising.

- Attends professional meetings and seminars, as appropriate.

- Identifies, cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and volunteers. Identifies strategies for donor prospect cultivation. Drafts gift proposals for review and/or provides recommendations and assistance to proposal writers.

- Writes, edits and produces materials related to advancement programs. Develops organizational and support materials for specific fundraising activities.

- Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.

- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree; Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

Minimum Experience 5 years; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience

Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in development, maintaining meaningful relationships with a wide variety of internal/external stakeholders. Ability to self-manage, prioritize work assignments and manage multiple deadlines. Experience maintaining and interpreting large datasets and database systems. Excellent planning, organizational and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Experience: 5 years

Preferred Field Expertise: Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field. Development experience in higher education. Experience in management/leadership roles. Volunteer experience in fundraising, campaign or non-profit environments. Experience with events and corporate marketing and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is $95,821.88 - $117,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
