Supervisor, Security Training & Logistics – Security - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)
Apply Keck Medicine of USC Hospital Los Angeles, CaliforniaProvides training / equipment quality control to all the healthcare security officers, security dispatchers, supervisors, and managers. Oversees the department training records to ensure compliance with the state regulatory laws. The Supervisor prepares, develops, manages, coordinates and conducts all training and suggest the best training for the Security Personnel. The Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that the security personnel receive the yearly required training. She/he is responsible for maintaining inventory/logistics of all Security Personnel equipment and uniforms. The Supervisor shall maintain the framework for the successful implementation and maintenance of our comprehensive security training and logistics program. She/He may be asked also to serve on an interim basis as a part of the Environment of Care Committee, Emergency Preparedness or Threat Management team, as directed Provides training in operational matters including patrol, incident resolutions, building access, investigative, and parking control activities.
Essential Duties:
- Create training schedule for all security staff, track and create reports on outcomes of all training and upload all training records into the Human Resources department system.
- Train new hires on Healthcare Security Officer Policies and procedures
- Responsible training and instructing the security personnel in basic employer requirements relating to the performance of officer duties.
- Maintain leadership aware of safety issues in the organization and recommend safety and security improvements.
- Develops and administers Healthcare Security Competency Tasks and its associated checklist in collaboration with Area management.
- Oversees the Hospital Security Training Programs.
- Participates in the development, documentation, communication, testing and periodic review and revision of business continuity and disaster recovery training.
- Provide for training on specific-security policies for various departments of the hospital.
- Form and train incident response units. .
- Ensure the compliance with governmental regulations (HIPAA, FERPA, The Clery ACT, etc.) and hospital policies. Maintain security documentation as required for outside regulatory agencies (The Joint Commission, HIPPA, etc.).
- Inform employee on schedule training and track regulatory deadlines and completion progress to ensure compliance with regulatory laws
- Identifies, defines, and implements appropriate training programs and development interventions to ensure security program is in compliance with local, state and federal requirements
- In the event of an emergency, the employee holding this position is required to “report to duty” in accordance with the university’s Emergency Operations Plan and/or the employee’s department’s emergency response and/or recovery plans. Familiarity with those plans and regular training to implement those plans is required. During or immediately following an emergency, the employee will be notified to assist in the emergency response efforts and mobilize other staff members if needed.
- Recommend training materials and methods, order and maintain hospitals / clinics training equipment and manage the budget set for training.
- Ensures that all uniforms, radios and all other equipment/resources meets the required standards.
- Develop processes and standards to manage all security officers’ supplies.
- Good collaboration and teamwork, including writing, speaking and interpersonal communication
- Ensure staff is punching into Time & Attendance system to ensure clocking in/out of shifts daily.
- Maintains a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, organizational policies and procedures. Acts to ensure that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Knowledgeable and keeps up to date with National Incident Management System FEMA training and laws.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested; any other job assigned from time to time by the concerned superiors.
Required Qualifications:
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req 3 years 3 to 5 years’ experience in related security field required.
- Req Experience in training and logistics of Security Personnel
- Req Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
- Req Understanding of CAL-OSHA, CDPH, HIPPA, and/or The Joint Commission (TJC), Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) hospital emergency codes.
- Req Ability to exercise emotional control, judgment, and objectivity.
- Req Must have the ability to plan, organize and implement administrative and operational programs and procedures, which includes the development of schedules.
- Req Computer literate and use of personal computer and computer program software.
- Req Knowledge about all security equipment and security operations.
- Req Attention to details, achievement orientation, positive attitude, and self-motivation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Bachelor's degree Degree preferably with emphasis in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Communication or Business Administration.
- Pref Experience, knowledge and/or training in safety, fire protection, civil disturbance, emergency preparedness procedures and planning, C.P.R./AED, Security and Safety issues and standards as set forth by the Department of Health Services and The Joint Commission is preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Driver's License (CA DMV) Valid current California driver’s license is required.
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req California Guard Certification (BSIS) BSIS California Guard Certification Card required and must be maintained by renewal before expiration date.
- Req International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) (Supervisory) IAHSS-International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (Supervisory training) required within 1 year of hire.
- Req AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Certification AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Certification - required within 6 months of meeting eligibility criteria.
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $60,320.00 - $94,020.00.
