The University is seeking a Travel & Event Category/Program Manager in Los Angeles, CA. The position will lead the sourcing and contracting effort for travel- and event-related commodities, management of preferred supplier relationships (including our Travel Management Company), and marketing of program contracts. Also responsible for driving travel program user adoption and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have worked in global travel sourcing and/or program management within a university or corporate setting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead sourcing and contract award process for travel- and event-related commodities, such as global air, charter, hotel, ground transportation, extended stay providers, etc.
Develop, benchmark, and optimize university travel and expense policies
Negotiate and execute travel agreements and high-dollar group contracts with input from key stakeholders to ensure top notch customer service, pricing reflective of USC volumes and projected growth, and terms in the best interests of the university
In close collaboration with Travel Operations Manager:
Manage marketing and communication of travel program
Drive user adoption and travel program customer satisfaction
Manage relationships with preferred travel agencies and travel/event suppliers including quarterly/annual business reviews, contract and rate negotiations, and assessment of all performance metrics
Ensure travel program optimization including identifying the best portfolio fit, identify overlaps and gaps, compliance, performance against goals, savings analysis, opportunities, risks and traveler engagement
Lead change management efforts as needed
Collaborate with Travel Operations Manager on management and bookings of large group contracts for special events, etc. as needed
7+ years of high touch travel program experience in a high volume environment
Procurement experience for large travel programs and effectively scaling programs
Technical expertise in all related categories as well as regional markets
Manage financials, budgets and program management data and analytics
Ability to cultivate strong cross functional relationships and communicate effectively with team members and business partners
Demonstrated leadership skills to guide and influence stakeholders
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business administration, purchasing, supply chain management or logistics
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
Strong negotiation, sourcing, contracting, and supplier management skills
Analytical skills with strong demonstrated problem solving abilities
Ability to work well under pressure
Keen attention to detail and accuracy
