Computer Scientist

Information Sciences Institute Marina del Rey, California

The Information Sciences Institute (ISI) is home to over 100 researchers who carry out world-class research in a collaborative, academic environment. ISI is part of the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California.

ISI scientists have the opportunity to spend the majority of their time doing the research they love. Projects are critically accelerated by research programmers and students at all levels, and USC operates one of the world's largest high-performance computing clusters.

Information Sciences Institute (ISI) seeks a Computer Scientist for a position in Marina del Rey.

The successful computer scientist candidate will be capable of generating research ideas and solutions to complex computer science problems, providing research support on problems of diverse scope, and executing research projects in collaboration with others. Applies computer science and other scientific principles and concepts in planning, coordinating and executing research objectives. Contributes to state-of-the-art technology and theories. Solves a wide range of research problems. Creates or modifies methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Writes articles for publication. Interacts with peers. Makes presentations at conferences, and participates in workshops and collaborates in specific areas of research.

We are seeking a research computer scientist in the area of large scale graph analytics. The successful candidate will have a strong mathematical background in network analysis, and a prior research experience in developing algorithms that are suitable for very-large scale real-world networks. Applications areas of interest include, but are not limited to social and socio-technical network analysis, system monitoring, graph anomaly detection, and image and video processing.

The successful applicant is expected to design and develop new models and scalable algorithms that operate on heterogeneous, time varying and streaming graphs. This research is intrinsically multidisciplinary and qualified applicants with Ph.D.’s in any STEM field will be considered, although the preference will be given to applicants with background/experience in machine learning and/or graph mining.

Ph.D. degree preferred
