Respiratory Care Practitioner II- NICU - Per Diem 12 Hours Nights (6:00PM to 6:30AM) (Non-Exempt, Union)

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates patient care activities, provides therapy to neonates and pediatrics as ordered by physician, according to established standards and practice, under the direction of the Department Director and Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Is responsible for maintaining adequate supplies by checking the inventory weekly and ordering stock and nonstock supplies, notifying manager or administrator.
  • Is responsible for setting up equipment and operating and trouble-shooting all respiratory equipment in the
  • NICU and Pediatric areas. Maintains and keeps all preventive maintenance records. Keeps equipment clean and ready to use between patients.
  • Is responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program, through quality control, quality improvement, and quality.
  • Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, improving.
  • Maintains professional growth and development training and knowledge for age-specific patient care, NICU, Pediatrics, Adolescents.
  • Monitors environmental control system and patient on continuous ventilation.
  • Must adhere to hospital policies of attendance, department coverage during breaks, and submission of PTO requests at least two weeks prior to time needed.
  • Must be able to work independently and have endotracheal intubation skills.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. Keep current with new equipment by attending outside seminars.
  • Participates in intra and inter-hospital transport of sick neonates.
  • Performs airway clearance of intubated and non-intubated patients.
  • Performs arterial and capillary blood gases.
  • Provides and monitors conventional ventilation as well as high frequency ventilatory.
  • Responsible for responding on Thursday, January 02, 2020, for C-Sections and other high-risk deliveries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Minimum (Required) High School Diploma or equivalent Respiratory training / certification required. Preferred (Not required) Associate degree Work Experience Minimum (Required) NICU Respiratory Care Practitioner with Pediatric experience. Licenses and Certifications Minimum (Required) • Registered as a RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care preferred; Must have RRT credential if hired after 12/31/2010. • Basic Life Support • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification Pay Transparency The hourly rate range for this position is $40.17 – $52.44.
