Job ID REQ20131877 Category Faculty

The USC Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to provide teaching and mentoring to graduate students within the masters and doctoral programs of the Department of Regulatory and Quality Sciences (http://regulatory.usc.edu). These positions seek to leverage the expertise in professional practice, education or research in the areas of drug and device development and regulatory considerations. Specific areas of expertise that fit to the goals of the curriculum and focused coursework therein are certainly welcome. Teaching assignments, lecture hours, and specific course and lecture content to be developed and delivered will be discussed with or designated by the department chair and/or the course coordinator, consistent with the curricular needs of the degree programs. No administrative or service component is anticipated.

Qualifications and Compensation:

The candidate for this position should have a wealth of professional experience in regulatory sciences involving drugs and/or medical devices. These real-life lessons brought to the classroom and mentoring settings are invaluable for students gaining knowledge and wisdom in these areas. A doctoral degree is preferred. A master’s degree with demonstrated expertise within a professional or academic career related to regulatory affairs or sciences is suitable. The definition of an adjunct faculty member presumes gainful employment outside of USC, with salary and benefits provided the candidate in his/her major professional pursuit. Therefore, these positions are not full- or part-time by university definition and will be remunerated based on a generous established hourly rate, are not benefits eligible nor lead to consideration of tenure. A contract subtending the active engagement teaching period and proposed hours will be provided. Qualified candidates will preferably have demonstrated experience or leadership in diversity and inclusion within their prior academic and professional work environments that they can bring to the education setting. Evaluation of teaching performance will be part of the assessed conditions for reappointment.

Application Procedure: The position is available immediately. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Qualified individuals are requested to apply online at https://usccareers.usc.edu/, and are requested to upload a current curriculum vitae, a letter of intent/personal statement, including teaching and mentoring philosophy and goals, and the names and current contact information for two individuals who will serve as professional references (one can be internal to USC or the Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences).

The hourly rate range for this position is $100 - $250.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
