Assistant Manager Consumer Lending Support

USC Credit Union Los Angeles, California

This position oversees all consumer loan underwriting and post-funding activities, including collateral management, loan adjustments, document retention, and other critical tasks. The role manages the support team, including underwriters, and ensures high-quality loan processing and underwriting standards. Strong leadership is needed to train and guide team members, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Responsibilities include leveraging data analytics for reporting and achieving service level agreements (SLAs) to support team performance and member satisfaction.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and lead the support team and underwriting team.

  • Oversee the process of securing collateral for funded loans, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and correctly filed.

  • Develop and implement procedures for miscellaneous lending tasks, ensuring they are carried out efficiently and effectively.

  • Ensure loan documentation is accurate and complies with all relevant regulations and internal policies.

  • Identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance underwriting.

  • Utilize data analytics for performance reporting and process improvement.

  • Achieve and maintain service level agreements (SLAs) to drive team performance and member satisfaction.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 5 years at a financial institution, interpreting and applying pertinent policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements Minimum Skills: Knowledge of credit union service standards and loan operations, as well as all relevant local, state, and federal regulations governing financial institutions. Experience in a management or leadership role. Written and oral communication skills, able to provide both detailed information and summaries to relevant stakeholders. Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree Preferred Skills: Experience in a management role at a financial institution. Knowledge of human resources processes, and experience interviewing, mediating, and teaching/training staff. Written and oral fluency in Spanish and/or other foreign languages. Experience with social media and multi-platform communications and marketing plans.
