Assistant Professor (Research Track) – Department of Neurology, Keck School of Medicine of USC

The Department of Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor (Research) position focused on mechanisms of APOE4 in Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative processes.

The successful candidate will join an active and collaborative research environment dedicated to understanding lipid metabolism, neuroinflammation, and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease. The position emphasizes molecular and cellular neuroscience, including but not limited to:

  • • Phosphoproteomics and lipidomics workflows
    • Neuroinflammatory signaling (e.g., cPLA2 pathways)
    • Primary neuron, astrocyte, and microglia cultures
    • Integration of single-cell and molecular data to link mechanisms to phenotype

The candidate is expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program and to participate in collaborative projects within the department and the Center for Personalized Brain Health.

Qualifications:

  • • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in neuroscience, biochemistry, or a related field
    • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity and scientific independence
    • Experience with lipid biology, Alzheimer’s disease models, or neuroinflammation is preferred
