Asst/Assoc Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases)-USC/LAC+USC

The USC Keck School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, at LAC+USC Medical Center, is seeking a qualified full-time board-certified/board-eligible Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist to join our faculty as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics.  The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at LAC+USC Medical Center serves a diverse, underserved population of patients from a catchment area that includes most of Los Angeles County at a state-of-the-art public hospital with an associated clinic network. A successful candidate would join an expanding program in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, which has an integrative approach to children and families dealing with infectious diseases of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. The Department of Pediatrics at LAC+USC prides itself as an excellent clinical and educational academic department, with robust pediatric and combined Medicine + Pediatric residency programs. Pediatric clinical services include a 40-bed pediatric and adolescent ward, 10-bed PICU, 40-bed NICU a full-service Pediatric Emergency Ward within a 600-bed Medical Center and a large Medical Complex that includes Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy, as well as large tertiary care private hospitals. Academic activities include numerous divisional, departmental and multidisciplinary conferences, as well as intercity conferences, and participation in lecture series for students, residents and fellows. Research opportunities and collaborations are also available. The Division consists of four Infectious Diseases specialists, two of whom are Medicine-Pediatrics boarded. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Department has two fellowship positions available. Our clinical services encompass a hospital consult service, Pediatric Infectious Disease clinic and a multidisciplinary clinic that provides primary and specialty care for HIV infected and affected babies, children, adolescents and adults, including prenatal care of pregnant women. Known as the MCA (Maternal, Child, Adolescent, Adult) clinic, it is one of the largest multidisciplinary family HIV programs in California with expertise in Ob/Gyn, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pharmacy. Our program is a California Children’s Services (CCS) Infectious Diseases and Immunology Center, a HRSA Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, DHS Perinatal Center and a Public Health Clinic for HIV and STD testing. Faculty participate in large clinical trials networks for HIV and other infectious diseases and collaborate in local, national and international clinical and research enterprises. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in these research projects and develop new avenues of research endeavor. Opportunities exist to create special programs for this population that we serve. Experience with an underserved population is preferred. Candidates must be board certified in Pediatrics. Training in Internal Medicine Pediatrics and/or adolescent medicine would be valued.
