As the home for USC Trojans football since 1923, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum also plays host to concerts, international soccer matches, food festivals, and numerous other events. The Coliseum just completed a $315 million-dollar renovation that will usher in a new era of service as we continue to strive to be “The Greatest Stadium in the World.”

We are seeking an entry-level Athletic Fields Groundskeeper to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about stadium fields and athletic grounds? Do you take pride in creating the best field for athletes and spectators alike? Then we want you! As our Athletic Fields Groundskeeper, you will ensure our athletes have the highest quality fields available for training, collegiality, and competition. Our fans are just as important to us as our athletes, so we will count on your hard work to guarantee that they can enjoy a clean, accommodating space. Our athletes and fans drive us, and we need you to be as dedicated and enthusiastic as we are!

The Accountabilities:

  • Maintain condition and appearance of all athletic fields, intramural fields, and stadiums.

  • Prepare fields and stadiums for intercollegiate sports activities, by lining, marking, turf maintenance, and fertilization.

  • Use and maintain power tools and other equipment.

  • Prepare soil for planting.

  • Sweep walkways and otherwise maintain paved areas.

  • Train other athletic fields groundskeepers as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The Qualifiers:

  • Education: High School Diploma not required.

  • Experience: No experience required.

  • Expertise:

    • Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.

    • Basic knowledge of field sports, gardening, and ground maintenance.

    • Demonstrated use of tools and equipment (including power tools).

    • Minimal familiarity with common plant species, landscaping, and cultivation.

    • Familiar with standard safety practices using equipment and other requirements for workplace safety.

    • Ability to communicate effectively in English

The hourly rate range for this position is $17.51 - $24.04. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
