Care for the Caregiver (C4C) Clinical and Reserach Study Psychologist/Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (Practitioner)
Apply Keck School of Medicine Faculty Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe USC Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences is seeking an industrial organizational psychology trainer and/or clinical psychologist to provide workshops and programs on emotional health and resilience within the Keck Medicine of USC medical system. Individuals will be focusing their efforts on improving the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare workers, in combination with a team of other individuals addressing various factors of healthcare worker wellness. Successful applicants will be providing direct services to Keck Medicine of USC staff and providers along with engaging in research related duties and activities.
Essential Functions
- Report to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
- Develop, plan, and execute training sessions and workshops for hospital staff and providers to teach emotional health and resilience
- Select evidenced based concepts and interventions from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) that are effective in addressing healthcare worker burnout, demoralization, and anxiety resulting from chronic stress
- Identify and incorporate relevant research and best practices from industrial/organizational psychology and/or relevant fields of psychology into a program that teaches healthcare workers self-regulation skills that improve their emotional state and lead to enhanced job performance
- Administer and score psychometrically-sound tests
- Analyze assessment instrument results for data collection and/or research projects
- Partner and provide support as needed to a team of principle investigators, project specialists, program managers, and health care researchers on a multi-year grant studying healthcare worker wellness
Minimum/Desired Qualifications:
- Doctorate /Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology; Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program
- Well-developed skills and prior experience (2+ years desired) utilizing evidenced-based psychological interventions for consultation and education of teams and/or individuals within a workplace setting
- Strong psychological and/or behavioral health research and data analysis skills
- Experience working on longitudinal research project(s) within a team structure
- Experience working with hospital based or medical system environment
- Resilient, self-aware, and able to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to professional integrity
- Effectively works in a highly diverse, multicultural, and LGBTQIA affirmative environment
- Desire to continue to grow as a professional; committed to excellence and lifelong learning
This is a full-time clinical faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Salary is competitive, and contingent on experience.
